Alexander Albiston Fundraising Site

This website has been setup to help promote the fundraising activities for charities associated with the treatment and research of teenage cancers and in particular, bone cancer. The site has been created in memory of Alexander Albiston. 'Alex' was an inspirational young man who was diagnosed with bone cancer when he was just 17 years old, went on to achieve top A level grades and a place at Cambridge University whilst battling the disease in his last year in the school sixth form. Alexander sadly died aged 18 in March 2010, but his story has inspired others to continue to raise funds to support teenage cancer charities.

Charade Reunion - Motown Night
Ron Stanley's Motown night held on the last Friday of every month at the Wickersley Working Mens Club is a popular night for lovers of Motown music but on Friday 25th November, he also made it a Charade Reunion Night and a bucket collection on the evening raised £450 for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.

Halloween House at the Charlton's
The Charlton family once again dressed the outside of their house for Halloween and the annual event gets bigger each year. Crowds flocked from far and wide to see the house and an incredible £1,450 was collected for the Teenage Cancer Trust that support the Weston Park Teenage Cancer Unit. The family have now raised over £2,912 for the unit over the years through their Halloween House.

Pink Party VI - Saturday 8th April 2017 at the Sitwell Park Golf Club with live band (Handsome Dan & the Mavericks). Tickets on sale soon with all money raised for the BCRT.

Andy McLennaghan runs the London Marathon - Sunday 23rd April 2017. Andy will be running for the BCRT. Details of his justgiving page will be posted here soon.

ITU World Triathlon - Sunday 11th June 2017, 4 relay teams made up of ex-Durham University friends of Alexander's dad Tim, will take on the olympic version of the triathlon in Leeds to coincide with the world triathlon series event being held on the same weekend. Alex's great friend George Sanders will also be taking on the challenge in Individual event. Justgiving pages to sponsor their efforts for the BCRT will follow later in the year.

London to Amsterdam bike ride - over the weekend of 22nd September 2017, Tim Albiston, Ian Guy and Paul Kelly will cycle from London to Amsterdam for the BCRT.

£103,452 has now been being raised As of end of 2016, Family and friends of Alexander
Albiston have raised over £103,452 for cancer charities;
the Bone Cancer Research Trust, the Teenage Cancer
Trust and the Weston Park Cancer Charity. Since
fundraising in Alex's memory began in 2009, it has taken
less than 8 years to break through the magical £100k
barrier, but the fundraising continues, so please bookmark
